This sector's problem
A voltage sag lasts a fraction of a second and does not appear on the CFE bill. But it is enough for a drive to trip, an agitator to stop or a controller to lose its step. In a batch process that can mean restarting, reprocessing or scrapping the batch.
The source can be outside, on the grid, or inside, in large motor starts and poorly tuned capacitor banks. Without measurement you cannot tell which, and the solution is different in each case.
These plants also use steam and hot water all year round. It is the entry condition for cogeneration, which here also helps continuity.

Signs it applies
If a stoppage shows up in the log with no mechanical fault, the first suspect is a voltage event.

What to do first
Measurement first: a seven-day campaign with a Class A analyzer, logging events as well as consumption.
Then, ride-through for the critical loads: drive settings, backup or battery storage for what cannot go down. What ruins the batch is protected, not the whole plant.
Cogeneration last, if steam is used for much of the year and the measurement confirms the thermal demand.
Work inside classified areas is planned with your quality team and under your procedures. We do not enter a clean area without that agreement.
When it is not for you
If your stoppages have a known mechanical or process cause, we will not sell you a backup system. First, measurement confirms that the source is electrical.
If your plant does not use steam or hot water continuously, cogeneration does not pay for itself. We tell you before quoting it.
